Lately, I've been feeling kinda depressed at my lack of blogging buddies. I only have six right now-- you guys are amazing by the way-- so I have decided to do a contest/ giveaway. I know, I know, it's a totally lame way to get people to read my blog, but I'm desperate. So I cleaned out my bookshelf, and I think I've got some great stuff to give away!
When I reach 25 followers I'll be giving away a hardcover copy of:
Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin!
The only thing Avery Hood can remember about the night her parents died is that she saw silver—deadly silver, moving inhumanly fast. As much as she wants to remember who killed them, she can't, and there's nothing left to do but try to piece her life back together. Then Avery meets the new boy in school—Ben, mysterious and beautiful, with whom she feels a connection like nothing she's ever experienced. When Ben reveals he's a werewolf, Avery still trusts him—at first. Then she sees that sometimes his eyes flash inhuman silver. And she learns that she's not the only one who can't remember the night her parents died.Part murder mystery, part grief narrative, and part heart-stopping, headlong romance, Low Red Moon is a must-read for teen paranormal fans.
When I top 50 followers I'll give out a hardcover, never-been-read copy of:
Young Katniss Everdeen has survived the dreaded Hunger Games not once, but twice, but even now she can find no relief. In fact, the dangers seem to be escalating: President Snow has declared an all-out war on Katniss, her family, her friends, and all the oppressed people of District 12. The thrill-packed final installment of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy will keep young (and old!) hearts pounding.
And finally, when I get 75 followers, one lucky winner will receive an ARC copy of:
Forgotten by Cat Patrick (read my recent review here)!
Each night when 16 year-old London Lane goes to sleep, her whole world disappears. In the morning, all that's left is a note telling her about a day she can't remember. The whole scenario doesn't exactly make high school or dating that hot guy whose name she can't seem to recall any easier. But when London starts experiencing disturbing visions she can't make sense of, she realizes it's time to learn a little more about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future. Part psychological drama, part romance, and part mystery, this thought-provoking novel will inspire readers to consider the what-if's in their own lives and recognize the power they have to control their destinies.
**love this book! It comes out in June, and they're also in the throes of producing a movie based on it.
And if I reach *gasp* 100 followers... well, we'll see when we get there:)
So,does it seem like good stuff? I'm pretty new at blogging so give me some feedback! When I reach the amount of followers for the books above, I'll start a contest form, so stay updated, and get the word out there about this for me! Thanks everyone, you're awesome!
Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI featured you on my blog to try 'n' get you closer to your goal!!!

Some great books! If you go on twitter and start following people (bloggers and book lovers) like crazy at least a few will check you out. Especially if you tweet this then. Also doing the Friday Blog Hop and Friday Follow gives you exposure. Visiting other blogs like crazy also helps! Just don't spam anyone with comments to follow you, just leaving comments on their reviews and stuff will get them to check you out. Sorry for all the unsolicited advice! I just know it's hard in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteLarissa, I can't thank you enough for doing that-- it really means a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Candace, great tips! They're really helping me get to my goal:)
I'm sure you will get to 100 in no time. A great place to promote your giveaway if you haven't already is bookblogs.ning.com under the book blog giveaways group.
ReplyDeleteTo add to what Candace said, participating in weekly memes can get other bloggers to check out your blog and give you some exposure. =) I know when I was new, Follow Friday and the Blog Hop really helped me get some amazing followers!
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying what I am seeing of your blog so far! Don't worry, the followers will come! =)
I'm pretty new to the blog scene too - why don't we follow each other!
ReplyDeleteI am also a new blogger and follower :) Great books up for grab...looking forward to new posts
ReplyDeleteNew follower, hopping through! Great books! My FF is at Coffee Table Press
ReplyDeleteHey I'm a new follower, welcome to the blogging scene!! I'm also fairly new, only been blogging about a month.
ReplyDeleteTo add to the fabulous tips you've already been given, another tip is to visit other people's blogs. This sounds really common sensical I know, but alot of the time, people follow and don't tell the blog owner! So follow, leave a comment, and a lot of the time they'll follow back! It's also a good idea to blog hop, follow the other people that follow them etc.
I'd definitely recommend twitter like suggested above too, if you already have it mine is @CaitLomas, add me!
Will follow
ReplyDeleteSo wants these books

Hopping through. New follower!
ReplyDeleteI like the other people's tips. I'd recommend doing a separate post for the blog hops and answering the weekly questions. I usually don't comment on people's posts that they link to the hop unless they answer the question - I'm being picky but I figure it's the price of playing :-)
Also, I would do In My Mailbox and Waiting On Wednesday. Both are big meme's and a great way to get followers.
Also, get rid of Captcha codes (the letters people have to type in to post a comment). You can change your settings in blogger. You'll hardly ever get spam. It makes it easier for people to comment.
Hope that helps and look forward to seeing more from you.
My Hop
I know exactly how you feel! When I first started my blog 355 days ago ( 1st Blogoversary tomorrow) I was a little bummed at the lack of followers. Believe or not I had five followers for at least three months so you're doing much better than me :)
ReplyDeleteGood way to gain publicity is to join blog hops but other ways include following other people's blogs, I usually follow them back if they blog about book of similiar interest!
Twitter is great as well! I check out every one of my followers pages and blogs and many other bloggers do too! ALSO Book memes, especially IMM!
You're doing great! All the best!

Just started following you. What has worked for me is participating in a meme. Teaser Tuesday is the only one I'm really involved in and sure enough every Tuesday my hit count goes up. Also a couple of those visitors tend to start following, this happens every week.
ReplyDeleteI also had my first giveaway recently. I didn't do it on my own as that wouldn't have gotten me anywhere so I took part in a blog hop which was awesome. My hit count went through the roof and even though I didn't require people to follow to join the giveaway I had over 20 new people start following me.
I plan on doing more giveaways and if I do it will only be through blog hops, with over 200 blogs linking to each other it's a sure fire way of getting the word out without having to do any work.
Just started following and O: Look at that lol I guess I am follower 25 xD Well this is a great giveaway and thanks so much for hosting it =)

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get my first 25 followers (after about two months of daily blogging, I think) and now the whole thing is slowly gaining more momentum (currently 59 which isn't all too bad)!
ReplyDeleteHere's to your blog growing too!!

P.S.: I'm international, so probably not in for the giveaway, BUT I needed to comment on your lovely blog either way :-) !
I haven't got many followers yet, either, but I love the ones who do follow me! So, don't get depressed! I'm sure you'll get there soon enough!
ReplyDeleteI'm following, not because of the giveaway (I'm international, so in all probability, you won't be making it international - I know it's expensive!), but because I would like to hear more about what you have to say on books!
Keep up with the good work, and the followers will follow (not very good pun, but anyway!). Just remember, don't fret! :D

I enjoy following smaller blogs, so don't feel bad. Mine is little too and the only way I have gained followers is by contest. :D

You're doing great! I enjoy following all sorts of blogs. I am soon approaching my 1st blogoversary and I still don't know what I'm going to do for it. Like Baddass Bookie says do Memes and spread the words around. If you have a button let me know and I'll post it on my blog!
